Here's some ways to get involved!

What is Active Member's Status?

To achieve ACTIVE MEMBER STATUS, members must accumulate a total of 25 member participation points throughout the 2010-2011 academic year. If you reach active member status, your name will be placed on a list that is given to the Pre-Health Office to be added to your application. This shows proof that you were indeed an active member in AMSA for that year. This distinction will help to distinguish those who have truly been involved in AMSA and those who seek credit solely for an addition to their résumé.

Ways to get involved in AMSA:

Contribute to the club by being an active member

We have a multitude of opportunities to become involved on campus and in our community to afford you the ability of being a well-rounded applicant to medical school. All volunteer events are also logged with Volunteer UCF along with receiving AMSA points to be used for the end of the year MCAT prep course raffles and other member involvement prizes!
Become an Officer

They are elected at the end of the Spring semester. Officers function to work behind the scenes in the club’s organization.
Become a Director or Chair

Directors and Chairs work to plan all the events AMSA offers. Interviews are held at the beginning of the Fall Semester.
Become a Committee Member

As a committee member, you will assist in the production of the events. Interviews are held at the beginning of both the Fall and Spring Semesters.

Point System:

Your participation in AMSA is rewarded by points. If you are the top participating member, you will receive a FREE MCAT prep course (Estimated at $1900). If you are in the top 10 members participating, then you are entered into a drawing for a second MCAT course!!

Attendance to Meetings without AMSA shirt - 2 points
Attendance to Meetings with AMSA shirt - 4 points
Attendance to Events - 2 to 10 points (varies on nature of event)
Bringing or taking a photo for AMSA - 1 point per photo (max of 10 photos)
Writing an Article for “The Pulse” - 1-5 points (depending on the size of the article)

If there are any errors, please email VicePresident@premedamsa.com, and be sure to include your name, NID, and error. (If your name/points are missing, your name shows errors with payment, your NID column is blank...etc)

** If you have not paid your dues AND submitted an application when the points are totaled for the free MCAT prep course ($1900 value), you will not be considered.

Leadership Opportunities

Come be a part of our Premed AMSA team!

Leadership opportunities include positions as Officers, Directors & Chairs, and Committee Members. Directors & Chairs work to plan all events AMSA offers and Committee Members assist in the production of the events; all serve as an intergral part of our organization.

Interviews for positions are held at the beginning of the fall semester and title is active throughout academic year. Please feel free to email any officer if you have any questions.

Premed AMSA Executive Board and Board of Directors & Chairs meet on the off-Tuesday of the general membership meetings.
